Equals: Creation of a Message Against Hate
Overview
This pilot program in France provided an opportunity for students to create their own initiatives, products, or tools to counter violent extremism, anti-Semitism, and racially and ethnically motivated terrorist acts by creating positive alternatives and counter-narratives projects.
Objectives
70 students from 4 university teams in Strasbourg, Lyon, and Grenoble participated in the first edition of the program, which took place during country-wide Covid-19 restrictions, curfews, and school closures.
They generated a combined 62K of online impressions and 6 press hits.
After participating in the program, 90% of students stated that they felt they had a role to play in preventing racially and ethnically motivated terrorist acts or violence.
